Routes and flight times from the UK

South African Airways operate double daily flights from London Heathrow (Terminal 1) direct to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport (Terminal A).

With a convenient overnight flight time of just 11.5 hours, it is one of the fastest routes to South Africa.

Arriving at Johannesburg O.R Tambo International Airport (JNB)

All international flights arrive into Terminal A at Johannesburg Airport.

For applicable passengers, a dedicated South African Airways arrivals lounge can be found shortly before reaching the public area.

Connecting at Johannesburg airport is simple and easy.

International - domestic connections

After clearing customs and collecting your bags, a fast bag drop re-check desk is available to smooth your transit. Recommended minimum connecting time is 90 minutes*.

Domestic - international connections

On the return journey to London, there is no need to collect bags, they will be through-checked to London. Recommended minimum connecting time is 90 minutes*.

International - International connections

For both the outbound and return journeys, bags are through-checked to the final destination. There is no need to collect bags or clear customs. Simply follow the signs to International Transfers. Recommended minimum connecting time is 60 minutes*.

High demand travel dates may incur a higher fare. Advertised fares are subject to availability. Fares are per person, for a round trip in Economy Class. Travel dates must include a Saturday night. Maximum stay is 12 months. Fares are non-refundable. Changes are permitted at a fee of GBP 80.00, subject to availability in original booking class. Names provided at the time of booking must match exactly the corresponding travel documentation (eg passport). The Pay Later option can be selected but full payment must be completed a maximum of 72 hours after reservation else the reservation will expire. The fare is not eligible for upgrade with Voyager miles. Earn 50% Voyager miles.
